The Christmas Tree at Le Carré Léon Gaumont

10th December 2014 - 20th January 2015

Providing a contemporary approach to the traditional Christmas tree, a suspended installation has been designed to illuminate the ceiling of the centre's Great Hall. Visual artist François Chenot has arranged multi-coloured baubles, sparkling stars and Christmas trees into a modern display that challenges the form of typical seasonal decorations but still manages to encapsulate the Christmas spirit in its own unique way. Definitely worth a visit for the whole family!

Night Circus by the Recirquel Collective

13th - 14th December 2014

The Recirquel Collective will provide an exciting evening of cabaret and circus acts at Le Carré this December. After Bence Vági founded Recirquel, the first Hungarian contemporary circus company, a request from the Palace of Arts in Budapest led to the creation of Night Circus. Since honing their skills at the Hungarian Baross Circus Institute, the collective's 18 artists have perfected many talents including acrobatics, trapeze and contortion, resulting in a show-stopping display of skill. The background of an offbeat Berlin club will be created to provide atmospheric surroundings for an impressive and extravagant performance to an original musical piece by jazz composer Péter Sarik.

Cinderella By Malandain Ballet Biarritz

20th - 21st December 2014

The classic fairy tale of Cinderella has been told in many different ways and choreographer Thierry Malandain has created a beautiful and modern performance with his team of 20 ballet dancers to the music of composer Sergei Prokofiev. A wall of glossy black shoes will provide a simple yet effective backdrop to a faithful dance and music interpretation that combines tragedy and suffering with the exhilaration of happiness, alongside comic burlesque scenes. Malandain won the prestigious award of Best Choreographer at the Taglioni Awards this year for the production, ensuring that this will be an unmissable event in Sainte-Maxime....and if you fancy finding your very own Prince Charming or fallen Princess, there will also be a ball held in the show's honour on the night of the 20th.

My Little House Animation

10th December 2014 - 20th January 2015

Creator Nicholas Helle offers the chance to discover a poetic story told through virtual animationaround two doll houses and a garden. A video mapping device allows an accelerated life to be told, from sunrise to sunset, spring to winter, with characters coming and going. Colours, light and music combine to deliver a unique insight into a captivating microcosm, suitable for the whole family to enjoy. Two themed areas are also open offering playgrounds at the centre's Mezzanine library with free admission.
